Regarding Indonesia, updated July 15, 2008.

In May, 2008 the United States lifted its travel warning to Indonesia, which had been in place since 2000, citing increased stability and security. U.S. Embassy officials said they expect more American business people, tourists and scholars to visit Indonesia to help expand trade, tourism and educational exchange between the two countries.

Regarding Tibet, updated June 25, 2008.

As of June 25, 2008 Tibet is once again open for travel. Please call your Travel Expert with any questions you may have.

Regarding Myanmar, updated May 15, 2008.

Cyclone Nargis has devastated much of the fertile Irrawaddy Delta and Yangon, the nation’s main city. Our hearts go out to the people of Yangon as they struggle through this disaster and its aftermath.

We are in contact with our friends in Yangon. They are apprising us of the situation on the ground as it unfolds.

If you are planning to travel to Myanmar in the next few weeks please call your Travel Specialist for details. We will advise you of the best course of action.

We have operated a water filter production plant outside of Yangon for the last four years, through Asia Transpacific Foundation, a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization. While the plant sustained damage, the kiln is operable. Clean water is critical for the residents of Yangon, but due to intense demand a bottle of drinking water now costs 15 times what it did a week ago, which is prohibitively expensive for nearly all locals.

See how our non-profit Foundation is providing clean water in Burma right now and how you can help. All donations will go directly to the filter production plant.
