Asia Transpacific Journeys Bullish on 2010
Great Hotels, Outstanding Rates & Fewer Crowds Encourage Asia Travel
BOULDER, CO, January 2010 –Fabulous cuisine, new boutique accommodations, fewer crowds and excellent rates at premier properties are just a few of many compelling reasons travelers are choosing Asian destinations in 2010, says Marilyn Downing Staff, CEO of Asia Transpacific Journeys. As travel specialists to Asia and the Pacific for 23 years, Asia Transpacific Journeys announces two new Small Group trips, Local Colors of India and Into the Heart of Borneo.
Downing Staff says that charming and polished accommodations have opened in India and beyond, making it easier to get up close and personal throughout more of the country. “Yet we still tour iconic India without sacrificing the exploration and in-depth interpretation that sets Asia Transpacific Journeys apart,” she says.
Local Colors of India was conceived as a truly authentic cultural immersion, taking the road less traveled, which makes all the difference. It fuses India’s must-see sights with lesser-known, hidden jewels that lie outside of the tourist ruts. The overall focus is to savor the authentic flavor and local color of India’s rich cultural heritage. The trip includes a birding and village walk in the countryside, a wildlife safari on camels and an excursion at a rural tented eco-camp in the tradition of a maharajah’s hunting party. Destinations include classic cities such as Delhi, Varanasi and the Taj Majal. The per person cost for 18 days is $8,195 (exclusive of international air) and includes gorgeous, culturally authentic hotels, expert tour leadership, most meals, medical and evacuation insurance; a single supplement is $2,000. The departure is scheduled Jan.13, 2011.
Into the Heart of Borneo is an excursion into a hotspot of biodiversity. A well-developed infrastructure for observing wildlife is a hallmark of travel to Borneo. The dense forest canopy features amazing aerial catwalks where one literally gets a bird’s-eye view of the profuse wildlife. On treetop aerial walkways guests will search for tigers, rhinos, elephants, monkeys, clouded leopards, and barking deer. When a guide at the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary calls out a whooping sound and leaves rustle, this is the heart-pounding moment when guests see the great ape swinging by. The trip features accommodations at eco lodges and beach resorts, river cruises, helping local park rangers release baby turtles into the sea, and much more. Destinations include Kota Kinabalu National Park, Selingan “Turtle” Island, and the Sepilok Orangutan Center. The per-person cost for 17 days is $5,995 (exclusive of international air) a single supplement is $1,260. Departures are May. 7, 2010 and May 6, 2011.
An alternative to Small Group trips is a Custom Journey to Asia that allows individual travelers to develop a unique itinerary based on their departure dates, timeframe and highlights.
