Expects Stellar Season Leading up to 2008 Olympics for Travel to China
BOULDER, CO May 2007 – The value of the US dollar, appealing cuisines, stellar accommodations and today’s optimism that permeates China, Vietnam and India, are a few of many compelling reasons travelers are choosing Asian destinations this fall, says Marilyn Downing Staff, CEO of Asia Transpacific Journeys (http://www.AsiaTranspacific.com ).
“We’ve been shining the light on the cultural treasures of this region for over 20 years,” says Downing Staff. “We’ve watched places from India to Vietnam shine up like a new penny in response to the interest and curiosity of American visitors.” As a result, and because of unfavorable exchange rates in the UK and Europe, Downing Staff predicts that this fall and the months leading up to the 2008 Olympic Games in China could set new records for US travelers to Asia and the Pacific.
To gear up for a higher-than-usual interest in travel to this region, Asia Transpacific Journeys Fall 2007 Small Group Departures include Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Laos, Micronesia, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam. The fall schedule begins in early September and continues through November. Each departure accommodates up to a maximum of 16 people. Private, Custom Journeys to all of these areas can also be arranged for individuals, their families or friends. Custom Journeys are personally crafted itineraries, created around the traveler’s interests, timeframe and budget. Downing Staff says that how people vacation has changed in 20 years as have Asia Transpacific Journeys responses to the changes.
A perfect example, she says, is Asia Transpacific Journeys Realm of the Spirit trip departing Sept. 15, a trip which explores contrasting spiritual traditions, affording unparalleled exposure to many different cultures and religions. "As infrastructure has improved in the area, it's easier to get up close and personal with much more the country than previously feasible. Yet we still tour northern India without sacrificing the exploration and in-depth interpretation that sets Asia Transpacific Journeys apart,” she says.
Trips range from 11 to 20 days for Small Group Trips (maximum 16 travelers) and costs start from $4,395 per person (depending on destination) for land costs that include highest end accommodations, nearly all meals, transfers, visa fees, tips, entrance fees, medical and emergency insurance and a comprehensive pre-departure packet. Asia Transpacific Journeys can also arrange international air through its in-house air department.
Asia Transpacific Journeys has been crafting private Custom Journeys and Small Group Trips to the Asia/Pacific region since 1987. Says CEO Downing Staff: “Our intimate, in-depth style promotes cross-cultural understanding, encourages environmental sustainability, and fulfills long-held personal dreams.” She notes that Asia Transpacific Journeys regional expertise also makes them the operator of choice for dozens of America’s most demanding universities and museums.
For 2007 Asia Transpacific Journeys itineraries of Small Group Trips and Custom Journeys encompass over 20 countries in North Asia, South Asia, SE Asia and the Pacific. Some trips also support global conservation and cultural preservation. Asia Transpacific Journeys own non-profit Asia Transpacific Foundation, established in 1998, works with rural Asian communities to provide clean drinking water through locally made ceramic water filters.
National Geographic Traveler (Oct 2006) has selected Asia Transpacific Journeys’ Myanmar Trip as one of “50 Tours of a Lifetime”
