This is a sketch of what your Custom Journey to Turkey might look like. Keep in mind these are merely suggestions. We can create a custom Turkey tour package entirely from scratch, based on your available time, interests, budget, and preferred pace.

Iconic Turkey | 16 Days

Day 1-2 En Route/Istanbul. Fly U.S. to Istanbul. Afternoon cruise on the Bosporus. Overnight Istanbul.

Day 3

Istanbul. Explore Istanbul. Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern Topkapi Palace. This afternoon Grand Covered Bazaar. Overnight Istanbul.
Day 4

Istanbul/Bursa. Drive to Bursa. See the Green Mosque and Tomb; the Grand Mosque, Silk Market and the Covered Bazaar. Overnight Bursa.

Day 5

Bursa/Ankara. Drive to Cumalikizik, explore charming cobblestone alleys in the old town. Visit Gordian. Continue on to the capital, Ankara. Overnight Ankara.

Day 6

Ankara/Cappadocia. Explore Ankara. Visit Memorial of Ataturk and the world-class Anatolian Civilizations Museum. Drive to Cappadocia. Overnight Cappadocia.

Day 7

Cappadocia. Explore Cappadocia's underground dwellings, caves and monsteries carved into rock. Lunch in Valley of Goreme. Hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia. Visit weaving center and atelier of master potter. See Whirling Dervish dance in 13th century caravansary. Overnight Cappadocia.

Day 8

Cappadocia/Konya. Drive to Konya. Stop at a salt lake and the fortress-like Caravansary of Sultanhani, Explore Konya. Mosque of Alaaddin Keykubad, 13th century Mevlana Memorial and Museum, history of Whirling Dervish sect. Overnight Konya.

Day 9

Konya/Antalya. Travel across Taurus Mountains. Visit nomadic family at Korkuteli. Drive to Aspendos, see antique theater. Drive to Perge, then Antalya. Overnight Antalya.

Day 10

Antalya. Visit Antalya Museum. Free afternoon at Mermerli Beach. Overnight Antalya.

Day 11

Antalya/Pamukkale. Drive to Pamukkale, swim in thermal waters. Visit archaeological site of Hierapolis, an ancient Roman bath. Overnight Pamukkale.

Day 12

Pamukkale/Kusadasi. Drive to Aphrodisias. Explore Greek stadium with more than 30,000 seats, the Temple of Aphrodite and Baths of Hadrian. Continue to Kusadasi on the Aegean Sea. Afternoon free to stroll the port or visit the beach. Overnight Kusadasi.

Day 13

Ephesus/Kusadasi. Drive to Ephesus, best-preserved Greco-Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean. Great Theater, Library of Celsus, Terraced Houses, last home of the Virgin Mary, Temple of Diana, St. John's Basilica. Overnight Kusadasi.

Day 14

Kusadasi/Canakkale. Visit Acropolis of Pergamum and impressive theater. Continue to Troy, see excavation site. Arrive in Canakkale, overlooking the beach. Overnight Canakkale.

Day 15

Canakkale/Istanbul. Cross the straits at Dardanelles by ferry back into Europe. Visit the World War I battlefields on the Gallipoli. Drive back to Istanbul. Afternoon Turkish bath. Overnight Istanbul.

Day 16

Istanbul. Fly home.

Every trip begins by us wanting to know you better. For starters we'll want to know who you're traveling with, your travel dates, any special interests you may have and what types of hotels you prefer. You may not know the answer to all the questions—don't worry, that's where we come in.

Traveler Questionnaire

Use the following questions to help you think about your ideal journey - better yet copy and paste them into an email and send them off our our knowledgable Travel Specialists who can then provide some suggestions.

  1. Will you be traveling with family or friends? How many people are in your group?
  2. Do you have specific dates in mind?
  3. About how many days do you expect the trip to last?
  4. Which destinations are you interested in?
  5. Do you have specific interests that you would like to concentrate on such as art, architecture, archaeology, wildlife, spas, cuisine, textiles, religion, sports, schools or nature?
  6. Do you like to have activities planned sun up to sun down, or do you prefer some downtime?
  7. Do you have an interest in active travel (hiking, biking, kayaking, etc.)?
  8. If you are of active disposition, do you consider 2 hours of hiking enough or do you like to go all day?
  9. On trips past, what were some of the activities or specific things that you most enjoyed?
  10. What type of accommodations do you generally prefer? Only five-star? Small, boutique properties? Nice, but not over the top?
  11. Do you have an approximate budget in mind for the trip?
  12. Are you celebrating a special occasion on this journey?
  13. Do you plan to use frequent flyer miles or reward points for international travel?
  14. Do you plan to book your own air or use our company's in-house air department?
