Brent Leavell is a Fulbright Scholar whose research and fieldwork focuses on the local culture and customary law of Indonesia. He earned a Masters Degree studying the influence of adat (customary law) on micro-business development in the traditional village markets of Indonesia.

He has spent many years living in Bali, where he owns and operates a company specializing in the design, manufacturing and distribution of Indonesian art, textiles, and handcrafts. His extensive guiding experience includes two decades as a lead guide on backcountry river trips in Alaska, the Arctic, Chile and Idaho. Brent's local connections, language skills, and academic background are complimented by his natural joie de vivre and a ready smile, making him a superb cultural interpreter in this part of the world.

Australian Suzanne Noakes has been traveling in Melanesia for the last two decades, leading trips in Papua New Guinea for private groups, university alumni and conservation associations, and has developed a deep understanding of PNG's people, culture, language, flora and fauna.

She owns a tourism policy company that lobbies overseas governments to alleviate poverty through tourism initiatives, and is pursuing her master's degree in this field. She sponsors such initiatives as the Karawari coconut soap press, teacher scholarships and improved water collection projects within the Milne Bay region. Gordon Marsh has been leading educational tours worldwide since 1983 for some of America's top institutions. As tour leader for the World Leader Symposiums® his itineraries featured in-depth interpretation of cultures, and included lectures by renowned experts such as Mikhail Gorbachev and Madeleine Albright.

He holds degrees in German and Chinese from the University of Hamburg and Leeds University. He is fluent in English, German, Mandarin and Cantonese, and speaks French, Italian and Arabic. He possesses an academic, polished demeanor, which belies a dry British wit and a natural exuberance for facilitating cultural interaction.

Chencho Tshering is a native Bhutanese whose guiding experience spans two decades. He received formal training as a guide for two years in Singapore, and when Bhutan's travel industry was privatized his enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit took hold.

He decided to pursue his passion and put his vast experience to work and became one of the country's most sought-after guides. He has since been escorting groups of different nationalities all over the country. Davies Stamm is a native New Yorker and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He fell in love with Southeast Asia in the late 1970s, when he traveled extensively throughout the region.

He moved to Bangkok, where he worked as a freelance writer and editor, and happily succumbed to Asia's relaxed pace. He spends time with his extended Thai family, who have given him great insight into Asian ways. Davies continues to explore Asia in search of remote areas far from the modern world. With his great charm, extensive knowledge of the region's history and art, and his wicked sense of humor, Davies is a top-notch Tour Leader.

Gary Wintz is a cultural interpreter of great renown, celebrated for his unsurpassed experience and scholarly bent—yet it's his marvelous, warm, witty and self-deprecating personality that will really get you.

He graduated cum laude with a degree in philosophy, then spent the next 40 years traveling the farthest reaches of the globe to more than 220 countries. Gary taught at universities in both China and Tibet in the early ‘80s and has lectured on Asia at Harvard, Yale, the Soviet Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society. K.R. Jairaj holds a Bachelors degree in Zoology and a Masters in Sociology from Calicut University, and a diploma in tourism from Annamalai University. A professional guide since 1989, he is sought after for his exceptional skill in imparting his deep knowledge of Indian history and fauna.

He has a knack for relating broad historical perspectives to everyday scenes that travelers encounter, making for rich and insightful discussions. Padmaja Bharti holds a Master's Degree in International Relations and an MBA. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Centre for American and West European studies. She is formally trained in Indian classical music, ancient, medieval and modern Indian history, contemporary world history, Indian philosophy, geography and politics.
